How to edit, copy or reuse a quote
You don't have to start from nothing every time. Change a quote that is still open, copy a finished one, or save one as a template.
Steps
- To change a quote, open it and tap Edit quote. Everything is filled in: the customer, the lines, the assumptions, the deposit and the start date.
- To copy a quote, tap Duplicate quote at the bottom of its page. You get a new draft for the same customer with the same lines and prices, and a fresh link.
- To reuse a quote as a starting point, tap Save as template on its page and give it a name.
- To start from a template, open New quote and choose Template. The lines and assumptions fill in, and you adjust them for the job.
- Your saved templates are listed on the Prices page, where you can use or delete them.
Good to know
- You can edit a quote until the customer accepts, an invoice is made, the job is marked lost, or a deposit is recorded. After that it is fixed.
- The customer's link doesn't change when you edit, so a quote they already have shows the new version straight away. Tell them you changed it.
- A copy doesn't bring across photos, texts, messages, dates or anything that was sent, viewed, accepted or paid.
- A template keeps the prices it was saved with. It doesn't follow later changes to your price list.
Questions
- Can I edit a quote after the customer accepts it?
- No, because they agreed to it as written. For extra work after acceptance, write a change order.
- Does copying a quote change the original?
- No. The original is never changed.
