How to invoice a job and get paid
When the work is done, turn the accepted quote into an invoice and send it. Your customer can pay from the link, and you can record anything paid another way.
Steps
- Open the accepted quote and tap Create invoice. On a job that is in progress, the button reads Job done: create invoice.
- Check the lines. You can add extra work agreed on site or remove a line until the invoice is sent.
- Tap Text invoice to customer. Texting it marks it as sent and locks it.
- Your customer opens the link and pays with Pay now by card or bank (when Stripe is connected), or follows your payment instructions.
- If they pay another way, tap Mark as paid and choose cash, check, bank transfer, Zelle or Venmo, or other. You can undo it.
Good to know
- Invoices are numbered from INV-1001 and are due in 7 days.
- A deposit and any progress payments already paid are credited, so the balance due is what is left.
- A Completed card on the quote lets you record the day the work was finished. It shows on the invoice.
- Approved change orders go on the invoice. Create the invoice after your customer has answered them, because once it exists a change order can't be approved any more.
Questions
- Can I change an invoice after it is sent?
- Texting it locks it. Until then you can add or remove lines.
- What does the customer see?
- A private page with the lines, any deposit already paid, the balance due and a Pay now button, with no login.
