How to fill it in

  • Write the change order before you do the work, not after. That is what protects you if the customer later questions the bill.
  • Describe what changed and why in plain words, for example 'rotted decking found under the shingles'.
  • Show the original total, this change and the new total, so nobody has to add it up.
  • Note any effect on the schedule, even if it is 'no change'.
